The Enterprise Data Team at Hearst is on the lookout for a Manager, Data Products and Analytics Engineering with a solid background in developing first-party data platforms on top of a cloud data warehouse. This is an exciting opportunity based in New York City to work closely with our esteemed Hearst Technology Services team, driving the architecture and development of cutting-edge data infrastructure.
Role Overview
As a Manager, you will become the subject matter expert coordinating efforts to create a modern first-party data stack, ensuring data security and privacy. Your expertise will be pivotal in building first-party data products, enabling data science, and ultimately serving our Consumer Media divisions.
You’ll tackle some of the most challenging technical and business problems in the media industry, making a significant impact on our goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate business objectives and analytical requirements into the complete development lifecycle of intricate data products.
- Collaborate with Hearst Technology Services on integrations, analysis, design, development, and support of complex cloud-based data pipelines.
- Design and create composable data products to support mission-critical deliverables in advertising, marketing, E-Commerce, and content creation.
- Promote best practices for data storage, management, and analysis within the cloud environment.
- Build, execute, and maintain automated tests, contributing to data profiling to ensure data products and pipelines meet expectations.
- Develop a modern data stack adhering to strict security and privacy compliance standards.
- Contribute to the Data Center of Excellence by sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Work alongside Data Science stakeholders to build data sets for model training and development.
- Develop and maintain all relevant documentation.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience as a data engineer.
- Experience in developing data products with a strong focus on data quality, security, privacy, and governance standards.
- Proven success in managing a small team of data engineers and analysts.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform BigQuery.
- Experience deploying ML models and managing production workflows.
- Familiarity with database, data warehouse, and data lake technologies.
- Experience in consumer 360 digital identity resolution and management.
- Knowledge of industry identity frameworks like Chrome Topics, UID2, Liveramp, and ID5.
- Experience in audience profiles and taxonomy development.
Compensation and Benefits
In compliance with New York City law, Hearst provides a reasonable estimate of $120,000 to $140,000 for the starting salary of this role. This information is specific to candidates hired in New York City. For candidates outside of New York City, the salary range will be aligned with the specific location. Please note, the starting salary will be determined by factors such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and education.
