Manager, Data Science - Fraud, Deep Learning

About the Role

We are seeking a Manager, Data Science - Fraud, Deep Learning to join our dynamic Fraud Data Science team. Help us protect our customers and Capital One against fraudsters by developing innovative machine learning models to enhance the customer experience and prevent fraud across all stages of the customer journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize deep learning and sequence modeling techniques to build fraud models.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver customer-centric products.
- Leverage a technology stack including Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, Pytorch, Tensorflow, and more to uncover insights from vast numeric and textual data sets.
- Develop machine learning models through design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation phases.
- Translate complex data science concepts into actionable business strategies using strong interpersonal skills.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree + 6 years of experience in data analytics, or
- Master’s Degree + 4 years of experience in data analytics, or
- PhD + 1 year of experience in data analytics, with the required degree obtained by the scheduled start date.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with open-source programming languages for large scale data analysis.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with machine learning.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with relational databases.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience working with AWS.
- At least 2 years of experience in building advanced Deep Learning architectures (e.g., RNN’s, CNN’s, Transformers).
- At least 2 years of experience with Pytorch, Tensorflow or other Deep Learning frameworks.
- At least 4 years of experience with Python, Scala, or R for large scale data analysis.
- At least 4 years of experience with machine learning.
- At least 4 years of experience with SQL.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $201,400 - $229,900 for New York City (Hybrid On-Site). Performance based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and long-term incentives, may be available. Benefits include health, financial, and other perks supporting overall well-being. Learn more at Capital One Careers.
