Role Overview: ML Research Engineer

As an ML Research Engineer at Causaly, you will play a crucial role within our AI team. This position involves working alongside a multidisciplinary group of experts, tackling complex challenges in innovative ways. Your contributions will directly enhance our AI capabilities, influencing both the trajectory of Causaly and the field of biomedical research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fine-tune and optimize large language models specific to tasks in biomedical research and drug discovery.
  • Develop intelligent agents for hypothesis generation and testing, capable of integrating seamlessly with both the Causaly platform and external data sources.
  • Implement and enhance reinforcement learning algorithms to streamline drug discovery processes like target identification and lead optimization.
  • Manage the infrastructure for model training, evaluation, annotation, and data management, ensuring robust systems and efficient workflows.
  • Employ a test-driven development framework to maintain a high-quality, efficient codebase, including conducting peer code reviews.
  • Utilize agile methodologies to adapt solutions quickly to fit evolving product needs and document all development milestones comprehensively.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to design and execute large-scale experiments to advance and deploy ML technologies.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Proven analytical skills and problem-solving abilities with substantial industry experience in AI/ML framework development.
  • Proficiency in ML tools and frameworks such as Pytorch, Tensorflow, scikit-learn, and Langchain.
  • Expertise in deep learning architectures, notably transformers and CNNs.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with object-oriented programming.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and tools like Jira or Rally.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Industry experience with RAG applications.
  • Background in Biomedical data or computational sciences.
  • Knowledge in developing Reinforcement Learning frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS and familiarity with MLOps/LLMops frameworks.
