The Role: Principal Scientist, Machine Learning/Predictive Cell State Design

We are seeking a Principal Scientist to join our computational research group within the global IPS organization. Collaborating with Cancer Immunology & Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center (CICT TRC) colleagues, you will optimize cell therapies, identify molecular mechanisms to enhance efficacy, and reduce potential toxicities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop large multimodal models integrating structured and unstructured data for cell engineering and target discovery applications.
  • Develop ML-based methodologies for spatial transcriptomics datasets to enhance cancer immunology drug discovery.
  • Utilize ML and causal inference techniques to predict perturbation effects on cell states and phenotypes.
  • Stay updated on state-of-the-art ML methodologies and their applications in cell engineering and drug discovery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design experiments and translate computational insights into therapeutic concepts.
  • Contribute to the authorship of scientific reports and present methods and conclusions to publishable standards.

Basic Qualifications

Applicants must have one of the following academic and professional experiences:

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience.
  • Master's degree with 6+ years of experience.
  • PhD with 4+ years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, biomedical informatics, genetics, statistics, or a related field with a strong publication record.
  • Experience in developing and implementing scalable machine learning architectures for large multi-modal datasets.
  • Expertise in Python, PyTorch, and open-source data processing and visualization packages.
  • Experience with deep learning methodologies and cloud computing services.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and collaborative nature.
  • Familiarity with cell biology, immunology, oncology, or biologics is a plus.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English.
