We are seeking a BI Manager for the ADO team, ideally having a strong blend of analytical/innovative mindset, technical aptitude, business acumen, excellent communication skills, and a passion for mentoring. For internal candidates, this position is open to grade level 17.

This is a hybrid role that requires insurance knowledge, data analysis skills, and communication abilities, and involves managing a team supporting various work-streams and a range of internal customers. We seek a team lead that can guide the development of our junior staff in modern data operations, including database architecture, data pipelines, data analysis, effective use of data visualization in managing workflows, and other data-related best practices.

As a BI Manager, your responsibilities will include...

  • Understanding the business needs for reporting and analytics. Advising business stakeholders and proposing ways to maximize the use of data and analytics.
  • Promoting the adoption of BI systems/tools/processes where appropriate.
  • Overseeing the generation and communication of standard report updates, and ensuring your team maintains detailed documentation to address future inquiries.
  • Leading a high-performing development and implementation team by recruiting, training, coaching, and developing effective staff.
  • Monitoring and improving BI operations, automating processes where possible, and proactively identifying and addressing issues.
  • Enforcing the development and implementation of best practices in business intelligence, including the upkeep of centralized business term definitions and related metadata.
  • Maintaining relevant metrics to offer transparency on reporting solutions usage and team performance.
  • Hands-on development of reports and dashboards based on business specifications.

You will contribute to a culture that values learning and innovation, teamwork, recognizes and rewards achievements and excellence, and provides opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM major or with STEM coursework in an associated major (such as Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics).
  • A minimum of five years of P&C insurance data analysis experience.
  • Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written), with a willingness to enhance presentation and persuasion skills.
  • A passion for leveraging data and technology to understand the real world and instigate change, with an emphasis on the importance of data quality.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel/BI, with a focus on data analysis.
  • Experience managing junior team members and a strong record of building successful stakeholder relationships.
  • A proactive problem-solver with a commitment to innovation.
  • A genuine interest in transforming the insurance industry with data and analytics to improve people's lives.
  • Exceptional conceptual and analytical reasoning competencies.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, highly collaborative environment. You are a great team player who thrives on collaboration but also works well independently, supporting multiple projects concurrently.
