About the Role

Data is the cornerstone of our payments strategy and innovation at Netflix. The Payments & Partnerships Data Science & Engineering team offers business guidance through analysis, metrics research, experimentation, causal inference, and modeling. We also provide exceptional judgment, partnership, and business acumen. Our portfolio includes production ML models that we maintain, innovate upon, and greenfield application spaces. These collaborative, innovative efforts generate millions of dollars in revenue each year.

As a Senior Research Scientist, you'll be part of a stellar team of Data Scientists, Machine Learning Scientists, Research Scientists, and Analytics Engineers. You'll lead the development of ML models to enhance member experience and efficiency for billions of payment transactions each year and combat fraud in real-time. Responsibilities include operating and innovating on algorithms in production, validating through offline experiments, and building online A/B tests for production systems. You'll work closely with other ML researchers and engineers in Growth on cross-functional ML initiatives, identifying and filling gaps to improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop impactful machine learning models in Payments and Growth.
• Collaborate closely with Payments leads and business analysts to identify high-value applications of machine learning and translate business intuition into data-driven solutions.
• Work with scientists and engineers on detailed requirements and implementation of scalable end-to-end solutions.
• Inform and influence the development of better infrastructure for deploying ML models, often in collaboration with our Machine Learning Platform team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in end-to-end ML with a strong track record of successful deployments.
• Exceptional communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to cross-functional partners.
• Strong thought partnership, capable of building credibility through clarity and judgment.
• Willingness to learn and quickly absorb business context in the complex payments ecosystem.
• Expertise in ML/DL frameworks such as scikit-learn, Keras, PyTorch, TensorFlow.
• Strong software engineering skills in multiple languages including Scala, Java, and Python.
• PhD or Masters in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field is a plus.
• Knowledge of payments is advantageous.

Our unique compensation structure allows you to choose the proportion of your salary versus stock options annually, determined by market indicators and your specific job family, background, skills, and experience. The range for this role is $170,000 - $720,000.
