About the Role

We are seeking quantitative social scientists skilled in addressing complex research questions to join our interdisciplinary team. Our experts specialize in areas such as statistical inference, survey methodology, causal inference and econometrics, regression modeling, exploratory data analysis, and mathematical demography.

As a Research Scientist on our team, you will own the research process end-to-end. This involves designing projects, selecting appropriate methodologies, analyzing data, and communicating results to diverse audiences to drive impactful decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive research agenda and manage projects from initiation to completion.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define relevant research questions.
  • Design and implement suitable research methodologies to answer complex questions.
  • Create innovative approaches to solve challenging problems.
  • Provide practical measurement strategies and methodologies for effective decision-making.
  • Deliver clear insights and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or holding a Master’s degree in social sciences (e.g., Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Communication), or a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Informatics, Econometrics) with experience in social questions.
  • Proficiency in three or more of the following: statistical inference, survey methodology, regression modeling, exploratory data analysis, experimental design.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and programming languages (e.g., R/Stata, Python, SQL/Hive).
  • Experience communicating data analyses and results to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to initiate and complete research projects with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in designing original research to solve complex problems.
  • Must have work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large datasets and distributed computing (Hive/Hadoop).
  • Experience with Bayesian statistical models.
  • Experience with primary data collection, survey sampling, and weighting.
  • Experience with observational causal inference or quasi-experimental methods.
  • Familiarity with qualitative research methods (e.g., focus groups, interviews, cognitive walkthroughs).

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $109,000/year to $171,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual compensation is determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details reflect the base salary only and do not include additional incentives. Learn more about benefits at Meta.
