The Role: Research Scientist

Research Scientists at Google DeepMind are pivotal in developing novel algorithmic architectures aimed at building Artificial General Intelligence. We seek creative thinkers with strong skills in algorithm design and programming, who aspire to develop the next generation of AI agents. Expertise in Deep RL, planning, LLMs, and domain-specific problems are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate models, agents, and software prototypes for perceptual processing.
• Report and present research findings clearly and efficiently, both internally and externally.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve ambitious research goals.
• Engage in foundation model training and integrate research into products.

About You

To ensure your success as a Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experiences:

• PhD in machine learning, AI, or computer science.
• A proven track record of publications in top-tier conferences.
• Familiarity with multimodal generative modeling, training, and inference.
• Strong foundation in machine learning (RL, probabilistic modeling, optimization).
• Experience with distributed systems and training/inference infrastructures.
• Proficiency with deep learning platforms.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Contribution to open-source software projects.
• Recognized publications in the field.
• Experience with JAX and its ecosystem.
• Experience in application domains like code synthesis or multimodal generation.
• Strong coding and communication skills.
• Experience implementing large-scale systems.
