Join GSK as a Senior AI/ML Engineer - Sequence Learning

At GSK, we envision a world where advanced machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) applications revolutionize the development of therapies for existing diseases. Our goal is to respond swiftly to emerging or changing diseases with personalized medications, improving outcomes at reduced costs and with fewer side effects. This ambitious vision requires the creation of innovative products and solutions at the forefront of ML and AI. If this excites you, we'd love to chat.

About the AI/ML Sequence Learning Team

The AI/ML Sequence Learning Team utilizes AI and ML methods to analyze biological sequences (DNA, RNA, protein) from large-scale human genetic, functional genomic, and single-cell experiments. By developing models that can infer how variants alter protein/RNA abundance, structure, and function, we aim to transform drug discovery and discover life-saving medicines.

Job Description

Role: Senior AI/ML Engineer

We are seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to help turn our vision into reality. Ideal candidates will have a proven history of developing state-of-the-art (SOTA) deep learning models for solving complex scientific problems. You will independently execute and deliver AI/ML-driven solutions, from sourcing training data and designing/testing ML models to deploying stable, performant code and services in an agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scientific techniques to uncover key relationships within diverse biological data types.
  • Produce robust, explainable, and accurate predictions across various biological and clinical tasks using data and insights.
  • Collaborate with biology, genomics, and medicine experts to identify opportunities for applying ML/AI advancements.
  • Develop automated processes for predictive model validation, deployment, and implementation.
  • Deploy algorithms to production to extract actionable insights from large databases.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Graduate studies in Computer Science, Applied Math, or relevant life sciences with a focus on AI/ML techniques.
  • Highly experienced in developing deep learning models.
  • Outstanding expertise in machine learning, deep learning algorithms, and software engineering.
  • Proficiency with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or other deep learning frameworks.
  • Advanced skills in Python and/or C++, and familiar with devops stacks including version control, CI/CD, and containerization.
  • At least one peer-reviewed publication.

Preferred:

  • PhD in Machine Learning and publications in major AI conferences.
  • Knowledge of disease biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry.
  • Experience with biological data and the design, development, and deployment of commercial AI/ML software.
  • Track record of contributing to open-source projects and experience in metrics-driven model development.
