What this team is looking for:
Yahoo is seeking a versatile data enthusiast with remarkable business acumen, superior analytical abilities, a proven track record of conveying analytical findings, and extensive experience in utilizing various data sets. We are tasked with supplying fast, accurate, and relevant data for crucial metrics and insights about Yahoo's users.
This single contributor role will report to the Director of Business Intelligence (News Group Analytics) and will be accountable for providing Editorial/Content & Product Analytics support. This person will collaborate directly with the News Product Managers and the News Editorial internal stakeholders to produce reports and actionable insights, while guiding the data-driven decisions that shape the strategies of the Yahoo News Group.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Analyze performance (web & mobile) across Yahoo News Group products to understand user trends, behavior, and competitive landscape
- Act as the Business Intelligence lead for multiple teams in an agile work environment
- Support the News Group Analytics team with weekly, monthly & quarterly performance reports
- Present and communicate performance results and findings to different stakeholders at all levels
- Support ad hoc analyses coming from leadership and other key stakeholders within the company
- Monitor data quality issues, partnering with other teams to surface gaps/inconsistencies
- Conduct market opportunity research using third-party data sources such as Comscore, Similar Web, Shareablee, Data AI, Emplifi, etc.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred) and experience in digital analytics and insights delivery
- 3+ years of experience generating actionable insights that aid data-driven decisions in building great products with great user experience
- Expert knowledge of SQL
- Experience with web/mobile analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics
- Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Google Studio, Tableau, Domo, Looker, or similar tools
- Experience conducting analyses across Digital Content and/or Product teams
- Strong analytical skills and a quantitative mindset with an understanding of basic statistics
- Proven track record and enthusiasm for complex problem solving and analysis, including working with large data sets and excellent Excel skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present data-driven analyses and insights to articulate performance and opportunities to key stakeholders
- Proven ability to work across multiple disciplines with both data-focused and non-data-focused individuals
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, even when deadlines are tight
- Self-motivated and results-driven
- Media industry experience is a must
Desired Characteristics (Preferred):
- Master's Degree in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Marketing, MBA, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R
- Extensive experience collaborating with Product teams/Product Analytics
- Experience in report automation
- Knowledge of social media analytics
- Experience collaborating with UX Research/Design teams
- A News & Entertainment fanatic

The compensation ranges from $84,750.00 - $176,875.00/year depending on location, skills, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual discretionary bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentive. Yahoo offers industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401k savings plan, company holidays, vacation and sick time, parental leave, and an employee assistance program.
Yahoo has a high degree of flexibility around employee location and hybrid working. Most roles do not require specific regular patterns of in-person office attendance.
