Analytics Engineers sit at the crossroads of business teams, Data Analytics and Data Engineering and are tasked with giving life to robust, efficient, and integrated data models and products. These Engineers can communicate with both business and technical teams, able to convey data insights and analysis needs into models powered by the Enterprise Data Cloud - Snowflake. A successful Analytics Engineer can merge business acumen with technical expertise, moving between business strategy and data development. Responsibilities As a crucial leader aiding in connecting business and technology, the Analytics Engineer role requires equal portions of business and technical knowledge. - Work together with team members and business partners to extract business requirements, establish successful analytics results, and design data models. - Cultivate trust in all interactions, moving backwards from a business impacting result, employing Agile data-product development. - Act as the Directly Responsible Individual for substantial sections of the Enterprise Dimensional Model. - Design, develop, and enlarge the dbt code repository to extend the Enterprise Dimensional Model (Co-owned by Data-engineering, BI and Go-To-Customer Analytics). - Produce and keep up-to-date architecture and systems documentation in the “Data Team” Handbook. - Maintain the Go-To-Customer Data Repository in Tableau, a scalable resource that supports Self-Service and a Single-source-of-truth for business partners. - Record plans and results in user stories, issues, PRs, the team’s handbook - following the tradition of documentation first! - Implement the DataOps philosophy in all your activities. - Compose code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale database environment. Uphold and advocate for these standards via code review. - Approve data model changes as a Data Team Reviewer and code owner for specific database and data model schemas. - Offer data modeling expertise to all Rapid7 teams through code reviews, pairing, and training to aid in delivering optimal, DRY, and scalable database designs and queries in Snowflake and in Tableau. - Play a crucial role in creating the infrastructure to spot strategic data opportunities for the business by highlighting / investigating areas of opportunity for our go-to-customer experiences. Requirements - Capability to flourish in a quick-paced hybrid organization. - Be an advocate for data-driven decision making, and management in the Go-To-Customer organization and for the Go-To-Customer perspective in cross-functional data teams (Data Engineering, BI-Finance, Product Analytics). - Positive and solution-oriented mindset. - Comfort working in a highly agile, heavily iterative environment. - Self-motivated and self-managing, with task organizational skills. - Excellent communication skills: Regularly achieve consensus among technical and business teams. - Proven ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex business activities, technical requirements, and recommendations. - Demonstrated experience within the “Sales” domain. Experience in the following domains is a big advantage: Marketing, Product, Customer success, Customer support. - Solid understanding of data warehouses, business intelligence tools, data activation tools, and the Modern Data Stack. - 1+ year(s) experience in dbt.
