Within Deutsche Bank’s (DB’s) Chief Technology Office (CTO), we employ cutting-edge technology to transform how we operate. Our overall objective is to construct and offer simple self-service shared platforms for clients to use and, in turn, manage their own business applications on.
Our Enterprise Analytics Platform (EAP) provides a secure and stable big data platform and tools for the entire enterprise. This group is now expanding our core data enabling capabilities to unlock the potential of the company's data assets to secure a competitive edge in the market. We are also advancing our journey towards the Cloud (GCP).
We utilize a combination of vendor-supported Enterprise Hadoop technologies coupled with Cloud-native services and automation for efficiency and accuracy. Our main priority is to satisfy the customer through the early and continuous delivery of valuable software and technology.
As a Big Data Senior Engineer, you will work with CIO teams, Group architecture, Support, and SDLC team to enable new features on the analytics platform. You will be responsible for building data solutions in collaboration with architects, product managers, and other key program stakeholders. You are also responsible for building, configuring, and managing software on the Cloud and/or on-prem for IaaS and PaaS Big Data solutions. Your role will also involve building, fine-tuning, and achieving operational efficiency on production-grade systems.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for building data solutions in collaboration with architects, product managers, and other key program stakeholders.
- Responsible for building, configuring, and managing software on Cloud and/or on-prem for IaaS and PaaS Big Data solutions.
- Responsible for building, tuning, and achieving operational efficiency on production-grade systems.
- Support the adoption of an agile way of working by delivering in a scaled scrum approach, actively contributing and delivering on features, stories, tasks and ceremonies.
- Work with the wider community of engineers across the enterprise to increase standards and discipline.
Your Skills and Experiences
- Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem (preferably with Cloudera) and the technologies it comprises.
- Knowledge in Data Structures and Algorithms, SQL on Hadoop engines (e.g., Hive, Impala, Spark SQL) and OOP languages (like Java, C++, and Python). Knowledge in RDBMS, various NoSQL technologies and BI visualization tooling is a definite plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills within an agile team & process culture; ability to identify inefficiencies, duplication and look for ways to simplify.
- Demonstrable expertise in Data (or BigData) Engineering e.g., designing, building, operationalizing, securing, and monitoring data processing systems with an emphasis on security and compliance or developing data pipelines using Cloud-native data technologies.
