Job Description

Team Summary

You will join a team that is expanding the capacities and services of the Visa Spend Clarity for Enterprise (VSCE) product to deliver scalable and robust solutions to more customers and users worldwide.

With a team of nearly 300 engineers, VSCE is a crucial focus area with significant growth ambitions driven by customer needs and a passion to innovate using modern cloud technologies.

You will be responsible for developing our VSCE data delivery and billing systems and executing our platform modernization strategy.

Role

A Senior Data Engineer plays a crucial role within a cohesive, cross-disciplinary agile team working on the product backlog.

In this role, you will balance support for our existing data delivery and billing systems, execution of our platform modernization strategy, unplanned work, and contribution to critical initiatives. As a senior, you will help enhance processes and practices, provide leadership, and mentor and coach others.

You will work alongside intermediate and senior-level engineers, other agile team members, and consultants.

This role requires a commitment to technical excellence in not only writing code, but also in team collaboration, testing, and documentation. Good communication skills are essential, as well as a proactive attitude and willingness to work across various disciplines if needed.

Qualifications

What you will need

Solid experience working with:

• Cloud environments – AWS preferred
• Data ETL/ELT transformation (e.g., Python, Spark, SSIS)
• Serverless technologies (e.g., S3, Lambda, Glue, DynamoDB)
• SQL (intermediate to advanced skills)
• Data modelling and design experience

Experience required in:

• Scripting (e.g., PowerShell)
• Data governance
• CI/CD
• Source control (e.g., Git, Subversion) and continuous integration (e.g., TeamCity)
• Performance monitoring and resolution - including creating dashboards to monitor metrics

Desired experience in:

• .Net development
• Test automation

What will also help:

• 5+ years’ experience in professional software development
• Strong team leadership skills with a collaborative, diplomatic, flexible style, able to work effectively across multiple teams
• Ability to guide tech leadership, drive process & practice improvements
• Good problem-solving skills, comfortable working in complex, challenging environments with high attention to detail

Additional Information

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can split their time between remote and office work. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), generally aiming to be in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
