Senior Data Scientist - Partner Profitability Analytics
A high-performance influential individual who consistently applies and enhances analytics capabilities, principles and guidelines to tackle complex business issues and identify opportunities. Operates independently and provides deep analytical support and expertise. Capable of mentoring junior colleagues and interfacing regularly with executive leadership (Senior Director+).
What you'll do:
- Deliver accurate and impactful results within reasonable timeframes
- Work smartly to maximize efficiency
- Understand the importance of early collaboration with experts and stakeholders to clarify business questions, enhance the feature selection process, and select a relevant output
- Provide guidance and coaching to team members on statistical techniques, model building, advanced test design, deep dives, business recommendations
- Undertake some work on creating ETLs to generate our own datasets from existing sources
- Understand and explain the trade-offs between simple vs. complex methods
- Have a deep understanding of the complexities and caveats of certain approaches
- Understand the business domain and use this knowledge to refine the questions at the heart of the modeling project
- Create clear visualizations that support the data narrative and enhance audience understanding
- Be comfortable using common charting packages used in scripting languages like R/python (e.g. ggplot, matplotlib, plotly) and explore alternatives when necessary
- Ability to articulate a clear and concise story and present insights rather than just data
- Display knowledge and experience in working with big data, understanding potential challenges, solutions, and explaining these to both technical and non-technical partners
- Write new / understand existing advanced SQL
Who you are:
- Possess 7+ years of relevant experience in a comparable Data Science role or PhD in a quantitative field with 4+ years work experience
- Demonstrable advanced level experience of using R, Python or SQL for data analysis, structuring, transforming and visualising big data.
- Experience delivering analytics projects across different business areas
- Knowledge of online bidding or pricing concepts is beneficial
- Critical thinker with an inquisitive mind
- Problem solver with communication and influencing skills, understanding of machine learning concepts/approaches
