Senior Enterprise Data Engineer - Zurich (Schaumburg, IL)

Zurich (Schaumburg, IL) is seeking a dedicated Senior Enterprise Data Engineer to enhance data-driven decision-making through optimized data flows and robust analytic tools and capabilities. This position offers the option for remote work.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Enterprise Data Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Transforming and curating raw data into analysis-ready datasets.
  • Partnering with Data Scientists to optimize and harden code and queries.
  • Supporting, enhancing, and upgrading analytic tools and environments.
  • Providing day-to-day troubleshooting and technology support for the data science environment.
  • Developing data solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Evaluating data source tables and files.
  • Configuring CDI pipeline notebooks and runbooks as needed.
  • Designing and developing pipeline processes.
  • Coordinating with the SIT team for QA review and creating deployment plans.
  • Designing and developing new curation processes.
  • Reviewing business requirements in-depth.
  • Determining the optimal technologies and configurations for processing and adhering to Big Data Ecosystem standards.
  • Coordinating development activities and timelines.
  • Enhancing balancing routines for critical premium and claim data sources.
  • Identifying and pursuing enhancement opportunities for existing curations.
  • Collaborating with the team to share ideas, recommendations, and refine solutions.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems Security, or a closely related field.
  • 6 years of experience in Enterprise Data Engineering, including roles such as Software Developer, Financial and Admin Business Analyst, etc.
  • 5 years of experience with programming languages including Scala, Python, Spark SQL, and Shell.
  • 3 years of experience with data ingestion, data curation, and cloud-based platforms such as Databricks and HDInsights.
  • Experience resolving issues in the Azure data lake platform from data ingestion to data enablement for user reporting.
  • Experience designing and building Azure data pipelines using configuration-driven development methods.
  • Proficiency with ETL technologies, SQL, and stored procedures.
