Job Description

As a member of the Machine Learning Engineering Identity team, you will play a crucial role in employing machine learning methods and systems to decrease the instance of fraudulent identities within Cash's ecosystem. Our core responsibility is to strengthen our first line of defense against fraudsters trying to evade our Identity Verification (IDV) measures. Simultaneously, we aim to increase our confidence in the identities of existing and new customers. Leveraging machine learning, we strive to guarantee that everyone has equal access to the financial services they need, regardless of their background or financial history.

Our team is expanding and we are seeking Engineers experienced in developing ML pipelines and infrastructure to create next-generation ML solutions, powering use cases across the company. The team uses a broad array of methods, from simple heuristics to advanced Deep Learning technology, to enhance our performance and services. We are also eager to explore new avenues with the team to continue pushing the boundaries of possibility.

You will:

• Design sophisticated ML pipelines and services, as well as prototype new methods and productionize solutions at scale for our 36+ million active users
• Produce a top-notch platform for training, hosting, and maintaining ML models
• Apply ML and engineering best practices to shape how Cash App develops, tests, and maintains ML-platform solutions
• Assist in designing and implementing our long-term Machine Learning strategy across Cash App

Qualifications

You have:

• A degree/background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. A postgraduate degree is advantageous
• At least 3 years of experience in software development, with proven technical initiative and leadership on previous projects
• Curiosity and a passion for Cash App's mission of economic empowerment
• Experience in mentoring your teammates and providing constructive feedback
• An ambition to be hands-on and help invent the future of AI
• The capacity to work independently in the rapidly changing landscape of ML
• Experience or knowledge in ML is beneficial but not a must: if you are a proficient software engineer, we are happy to train you in the intriguing ways of ML

Additional Information

Block operates a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. Canada-based locations are divided into one of two zones based on a labor cost index for that geographic area. The successful applicant’s starting salary will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be adjusted in the future.

Zone B: CAD $133,700 - CAD $200,500
