About the Team

Alloy thrives on a hybrid-work model, fostering collaboration and community by bringing local employees onsite twice a week. We are on the lookout for a proficient Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our specialized Predict team, responsible for enhancing our real-time machine-learning fraud capabilities.

Your Role: Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize scalable, fault-tolerant batch and real-time systems to support our machine learning frameworks.
  • Collaborate with various teams at Alloy to integrate relevant data signals into our systems effectively.
  • Create and refine the interface between the machine learning system and Alloy applications.
  • Design machine learning systems optimized for low latency and high availability.
  • Ensure machine learning algorithms provide accurate, reliable outcomes.
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to develop effective machine learning algorithms.
  • Engineer clean, well-tested system interfaces.
  • Participate in fortifying our feature generation systems (real-time and batch) using technologies like Flink, Kinesis, and Sagemaker.
  • Engage in our on-call rotation and stay abreast of industry advancements in machine learning.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Proven experience deploying machine learning models in external-facing applications.
  • Expertise in production deployment, including best SDLC practices, CI/CD, and IaC.
  • Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, or Spark.
  • 5+ years of production-level coding experience, with at least 2+ years specializing in machine learning for external-facing features.

  • Aptitude for crafting solutions that address immediate needs while supporting broader engineering objectives.
  • Proficiency in at least one machine learning framework (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • A portfolio showcasing a track record of successful projects focused on product excellence.
  • In-depth technical expertise in software development, particularly in Python, Terraform, and JavaScript.
  • Ability to perform thorough code reviews and resolve technical issues.
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure and highly scalable application architectures.
  • Strong prioritization and communication skills, ensuring quality without compromising timelines.
  • Able to collaborate efficiently across multiple teams within Alloy.
  • Local to the Greater New York City area.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with TypeScript.
  • Some exposure to Java/Scala.

Compensation and Benefits

At Alloy, we attract and retain top talent by offering a balanced compensation package that includes competitive pay, equity, perks, and robust benefits. We maintain transparency in our compensation philosophy, fostering open, honest dialogue about pay equity.

This role has a minimum base salary of $199,000 and a midpoint base salary of $234,000, with additional equity awards available. Actual pay may vary based on experience and skills.
