Senior Manager, Software Engineering - Generative AI at Walmart

Position Summary

The Customer Care Self-Service Group at Walmart is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Software Engineering to join our innovative team. You will lead the Chat Assistant team in developing Generative AI solutions for voice and messaging applications, helping us process millions of customer conversations annually. This role is pivotal in driving customer satisfaction and reducing operational costs through advanced AI technology.

What You'll Do

• Leadership: Manage and guide a team of 12 to 20 engineers, providing necessary documentation, direction, and mentorship.
• Strategy: Develop a long-term strategy for the Store Item Platform, ensuring transformative growth for your team.
• Innovation: Implement Generative AI and bot technologies to solve customer issues and enhance the overall customer experience.
• Collaboration: Work across multiple departments to align business objectives with technical solutions.
• Development: Utilize F#, Python, React Framework, Typescript, and native mobile applications (iOS and Android) to develop robust applications.
• Research: Stay updated with industry best practices to continuously improve Walmart's technological landscape.
• Mentoring: Coach and develop team members, promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
• Ethics: Uphold company values and standards of ethics and integrity.

What You'll Bring

• 10+ years of experience with highly resilient, scalable systems.
• 5+ years in a Technical Lead or Managerial role.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, cloud technologies (Azure/GCP/AWS), Kafka, GraphQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Ability to balance long-term vision with short-term project needs.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience mentoring and coaching engineers.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 5 years of relevant experience, or
• 7 years of experience in software engineering or related field.
• 2 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies.

• Hoboken, New Jersey: $132,000.00 - $264,000.00 annually.
• Sunnyvale, California: $143,000.00 - $
