Job Description

The Human Decision Support program (HDS) at ServiceNow Research aims to enhance decision-making in dynamically evolving business environments. Our mission is to develop tools that enable decision-makers to choose the best path forward by predicting outcomes in uncertain futures. Our activities cover everything from novel methodological discoveries to creating reliable interactive assistants that help derive actionable insights from enterprise data. We are actively looking for collaborators and interns. Our areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Causal inference and discovery
• Forecasting time series and spotting anomalies
• Sequential decision-making in dynamic environments
• Reinforcement learning
• Characterizing the unknown and modeling uncertainty
• Conversational agents for improved decision-making

Our research scientists contribute to key team projects, establish their own research agendas within the team's topics, supervise interns, and collaborate with colleagues and the broader AI community. We expect all research scientists also to write, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize the research software they use.

In addition, research scientists are expected to keep pace with the latest trends and discoveries, share their knowledge with colleagues through internal communications and collaborative projects, and act as scientific advisors for other teams, contributing to the company's products where their expertise is required.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we need individuals who:

• Have a Ph.D. in machine learning, deep learning, computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field.
• Have two years' post-Ph.D. research experience (preferred).
• Possess a practical mindset to implement fundamental knowledge and push boundaries.
• Have experience related to decision-making and optionally with large language models.
• Have experience and proficiency in scientific programming with Python and Numpy, and optionally also with Java, JavaScript, or R.
• Have experience and proficiency in deep learning programming with Pytorch and possibly with Tensorflow.
• Have contributed to research communities and have published papers in top international conferences such as (NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, ACL, EMNLP, etc.).
• Desire to work in a diversified team.
