Role Overview: GPS Data & Analytics Software Engineer

The GPS Data & Analytics Software Engineer is responsible for developing data solutions and supporting the operations of our enterprise data lake. This role involves constructing pipelines for data projects, offering production/application support, and enhancing data operations. Key responsibilities include data analysis, process management, tool development, data cataloging, and advancing SME skills within the Global Product Development and Supply – Data and Analytics Enablement organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, and maintaining high-quality data products and analytic-ready solutions.
  • Creating and managing data models for reporting and analysis needs.
  • Developing ad-hoc analytic solutions, including solution design, testing, deployment, and lifecycle management.
  • Optimizing data storage and performance for scalability and efficiency.
  • Collaborating with data architects, analysts, and scientists to meet their data requirements.
  • Ensuring data quality and integrity through thorough validation and testing.
  • Implementing security protocols to protect sensitive data.
  • Staying updated with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and analytics.
  • Managing the full lifecycle of enterprise data lake capabilities and analytics-focused digital solutions.
  • Developing cloud-based (AWS) data pipelines for data processing and analysis.
  • Defining data operations support, including access management tools.
  • Building end-to-end data ETL pipelines from integration to visualization.
  • Proficiently using tools such as MS Excel Macro, Tableau, Cloudera Data Platform (CDP), Domino, Python, and AWS/Azure/MS Cloud products, including ChatGPT.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in IT, specifically in developing AWS cloud-native data lakes and ecosystems.
  • Expertise in cloud technologies, particularly AWS and related services for data and analytics solutions/data lakes.
  • Proficiency in Python, Spark, SQL, AWS Redshift/DBs, S3, Glue/Glue-Studio, Athena, AI.
  • 3-5 years of experience in operations and production support with process optimization.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in onshore-offshore delivery models.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and Spark and cloud proficiency, particularly AWS.
  • Knowledge of data security and privacy best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the global life sciences sector, particularly within the GPS functional area.
  • International work experience with globally dispersed teams and managing offshore technical development teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
