Role Overview

The Hartford Fire Insurance Company is looking for a skilled Sr. Data Engineer to join our Hartford, CT office. This role is essential in developing complex data assets that steer decision-making processes across the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and prototype advanced data discovery and profiling using Informatica, B2B, PL/SQL, and Hadoop.
  • Carry out root cause analysis and tackle both business and technical issues.
  • Work closely with business partners and Performance Analytics teams to craft requirements for data assets, prototyping, and data delivery.
  • Develop training materials and conduct end-user training to boost customer engagement.
  • Design and manage ETL processes and next-generation analytics solutions using Cloud AWS and Big Data technologies.
  • Function as the primary technical point of contact for cross-functional unit interactions, including with both onshore and offshore development teams.

Location & Work Model

This role is fully remote but will report to our headquarters located at 690 Asylum Ave., Hartford, CT 06155.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, along with 4 years of relevant experience. Required technical experience includes:

  • Proficiency in Data Processes, SDLC, Distributed Systems, and Data Warehousing solutions.
  • Expertise in SQL, ETL tools, Big Data, Data Lake, CI/CD, Cloud Technologies (AWS), R, Python/Spark.
  • Background in the insurance and investment industry with a focus on emerging data-centric technologies.
  • Experience with Big Data technologies on a Hadoop platform (Scoop, Hive, Pig, NoSQL).
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools, Sub Version, and version control tools.
  • Deep understanding of warehouse applications in the financial and insurance domains.

Compensation

The Hartford offers a competitive salary ranging from $135,000 to $170,040 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This base pay is a component of our comprehensive total compensation package that includes short-term incentives, annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
