Position Summary

Caremark LLC, a CVS Health company, is hiring for the position of Sr. Data Engineer in Wellesley, MA. The role involves developing, building, and managing large-scale data structures, pipelines, and efficient Extract/Load/Transform (ETL) workflows to address complex challenges and support business applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop large-scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, and standardize data for insights and reporting needs.
• Write ETL processes, design database systems, and develop tools for real-time and offline analytic processing to improve and expand capabilities.
• Collaborate with the Data Science team to transform data and integrate algorithms and models into automated processes.
• Test, maintain systems, and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Utilize knowledge of Hadoop architecture, HDFS commands, and query optimization to build data pipelines.
• Apply programming skills in Python, Java, or similar languages to build robust data pipelines and dynamic systems.
• Build data marts and data models to support Data Science and other internal customers.
• Integrate data from various sources while ensuring data quality and accessibility standards.
• Analyze IT environments to identify crucial capabilities and recommend solutions to complex business problems.
• Experiment with available tools and advise on new tools for optimal solutions based on model/use case requirements.

Requirements

Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Health Analytics, Computational Biology, or a related field, and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Candidates must also have two (2) years of experience in the following:

• Programming in Java, Python, or R
• XML, JSON, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript
• Agile methodologies or SAFe Software Development Principles
• Spring Boot microservices
• React, jQuery, Ajax, or Bootstrap
• REST, SOAP, or Web Service APIs
• Redis or Cassandra database
• Cloud technologies: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Hadoop architecture or HDFS commands
• Analyzing large datasets from multiple data sources
• Data analysis for retail and/or healthcare industries
• SAS or SQL programming languages
• Writing ETL processes
• Designing and optimizing queries to build data pipelines
• Managing large-scale data structures or ETL workflows
• Data analytics, data engineering, and data visualization
• Deployment and scaling of applications on a containerized environment (Kubernetes, AKS)
• Data streaming technology such as Kafka

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $123,365.00/year to $200,000.00/year. The actual base salary offer will depend on various factors including experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors.
