Job Description

Your Career

As a Sr Principal Machine Learning Engineer (NLP) at Palo Alto Networks, you will have the chance to solve network security challenges using advanced machine learning techniques on exabytes of data. You will develop AI and ML-enabled solutions to detect and remediate network issues, discover threats, provide intelligence, and protect devices.

Your Impact

  • Collaborate with a fast-paced team to deliver new product and mission features to our network and security platform.
  • Engage and contribute to the network security community through active collaboration.
  • Lead industry technology evolution, creating a positive business impact.
  • Design, train, and deploy ML models to detect threats from the widespread adoption of GenAI.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field, or equivalent military experience.
  • 10+ years of experience as a machine learning engineer or data scientist.
  • Expertise in design, algorithms, and data structures; proficiency in Python, R, or Golang.
  • Proven track record in solving complex real-world problems with data-driven approaches.
  • Extensive experience with NLP/NLU problems and deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
  • Thorough understanding of modern LLMs/Multimodal Models.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Self-driven individual who excels both independently and in a team environment.

The compensation for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer, the starting base salary (non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (sales/commission roles) is expected to be between $170,000/yr to $259,217/yr.
