We are currently searching for an outstanding Principal AI Engineer to join our Machine Learning team. In this position, you will be constructing cutting-edge machine learning models that bolster our AI strategies to drive significant business growth. As a Principal AI Engineer, you will have the chance to work with some of the brightest minds in the industry and contribute to pivotal projects that shape the future of work. Your responsibilities will include: 1. Leading the execution of interdepartmental and multi-quarter AI initiatives that deliver measurable technical, organizational, or business impacts. 2. Working in a fast-paced team to create and deliver AI products that lead industry technology evolution and transform Upwork's business and user experience. 3. Driving broader alignment, managing risks by diving into projects with high complexity and uncertainty, and ensuring a high level of execution that balances speed with quality. 4. Identifying reusable patterns and technology investments to expedite our progress. 5. Communicating constantly with business, analytics, and engineering counterparts to clarify requirements, share data stories with statistics, charts, and formal presentations, and propose recommendations to maximize business impact. The qualifications we are looking for include 8+ years of industry experience as an ML engineer, expertise with cloud ecosystems, excellent programing skills in python, scala, java, and more. The annual base salary for this position in California and Washington ranges from $192,000 - $322,000 and is eligible for an annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long-term equity incentive program.
