ABOUT THE ROLE: We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team of skilled data scientists and engineers to enhance ancillary revenue products for airlines, cruise lines, hotels, and rail operators. The Data Engineer will be in charge of developing and maintaining data products, data pipelines and data warehousing solutions that empower our company to make the best business decisions. Also, the Data Engineer will handle liaising with Product and Commercial teams to help them understand their data needs, disclose requirements and offer technical guidance to the engineering teams. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data warehousing solutions • Work with a team of data scientists and engineers to identify crucial data and verify its accuracy for Machine Learning purposes • Utilise data in batch processing and streaming processing using big data tools • Keep an eye on and optimise the data pipeline to meet service-level objectives • Collaborate with Product and Commercial teams to communicate requirements and provide technical guidance • Work with multiple engineering teams (Development, QA, Platform, etc) to make sure data is captured, usable, and of high quality • Automate monitoring using real-time data to help identify potential issues in critical business KPIs • Participate in the design and implementation of data engineering projects. YOU ARE SOMEONE WITH: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or a related field • 2 - 5 years of experience in a data engineering role • High proficiency in SQL and Python/Java • Experience in designing, building, and maintaining distributed systems • Knowledge in building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes using big data technologies • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions • A solid understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and data governance • Experience with version control systems like Git. PREFERRED: • Experience with data mining, machine learning, or deep learning • Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes • Experience with stream processing technologies • Experience with data cataloging tools • Experience with infrastructure as code tools.
