Infrastructure for Machine Learning, Software Engineering Intern

Zoox is seeking a software engineer to contribute to our custom High-Performance Computing infrastructure and its associated ecosystem of tools and services. This infrastructure is vital to development workflows throughout all of Zoox's software divisions, including data engineering, computer vision perception, simulation, and beyond. You will undertake a wide range of end-to-end duties, such as distributed system design, algorithmic job scheduling, and adaptive cloud scaling, to meet all of Zoox’s computational needs. During your internship, you will have the chance to develop and implement improvements to Zoox’s in-house, pioneering HPC infrastructure, examine new distributed system technologies to satisfy Zoox’s continually expanding computational and storage needs, and establish production-grade web service API & other tools to bring a top-notch developer experience to all of Zoox’s software teams. Technical Qualifications & Language Requirements: - Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science (or related field) - Experience with distributed systems - Proficiency with Python, Java, or other managed languages - Bonus points for experience with cloud computing platforms (like AWS, GCP, or Azure), familiarity with workload management/job scheduling systems such as SLURM, or experience building, deploying, and scaling microservices Compensation: The monthly salary range for this position is $6,500 to $9,500. Compensation will depend on the role, degree level and type, and benefits will be provided based on eligibility. Additional benefits may include health insurance, a 401k, and a housing stipend.
