Job Description
Title: Data Engineer
Reporting To: GSC IT Reporting Lead
Working Location: India (Bangalore or Chennai)
Overall Objectives:
Eurofins is currently strengthening its IT Reporting team, which governs and manages operational data, producing and maintaining various reports for several IT departments. The Data Engineer/Data Scientist's role is to analyze requirements, source data, orchestrate data transformation, and maintain and support the data pipelines in close collaboration with the BI Analysts.
Specific Assignments:
The Data Engineer:
1. Analyzes approved requirements from stakeholders.
2. Works with domain experts to extract and transform the data.
3. Implements reusable business logic/transformation blocks.
4. Designs, creates, and maintains data pipelines.
5. Assesses and ensures data quality using statistical process control (SPC).
6. Deploys the data pipelines to production.
7. Documents the data dictionary and data pipelines.
8. Implements data access control lists.
9. Participates in Agile SCRUM development process.
10. Provides support for ETL incidents and data quality issues.
Required Profile:
Personal Skills:
1. Data design, modelling, transformation, orchestration.
2. Excellent communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.
3. Comfortable with distant and international communication through various technologies.
Technical knowledge required:
1. Row-level security.
2. MS SQL.
3. Experience with Python and Powershell is a plus.
4. Knowledge of Jenkins is a plus.
Education Background:
1. Bachelor's degree or diploma.
Language skills needed:
1. Fluent in English.
Type of previous experience:
1. 3+ year experience as a data engineer/expert.
2. Experience with modern ETL tools in the cloud (example Synapse, Snowflake).
3. Experience in metadata-driven processing/low-code (example TimeXtender).
4. Experience in DataOps and/or Agile/SCRUM is a plus.
