The Learning at Scale team within Google DeepMind is a team of scientists and engineers working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. To expand our pioneering work on multimodal models, we are looking to hire either a Research Scientist or Research Engineer to push boundaries, achieve ambitious goals and contribute to building the next generation of multimodal models. The Role We’re looking for a versatile Research Scientist or Research Engineer, at ease both with figuring out how to approach new research questions, and the technical implementation of research ideas. Key responsibilities: Developing and implementing novel ideas to solve problems and improve performance of multimodal models. Formulate new research challenges in multimodal deep learning at the forefront of research. Report and present research findings and developments clearly and efficiently both internally and externally, verbally and in writing. Work collaboratively within a diverse team both within and across research areas and product areas and maintain relationships with relevant research labs and key individuals as appropriate. Suggest and engage in team projects to meet ambitious research goals. About You In order to set you up for success as a Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience: PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics or closely related field or equivalent practical experience. A proven track record of publications at relevant conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, ECCV, ICCV and similar) Hands-on experience with Python and related ML frameworks. Experience working with accelerators like GPUs and TPUs. In addition, the following would be an advantage: Experience working with multimodal models Experience with JAX A real passion for AI! In order to set you up for success as a Research Engineer at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience: Masters’ level experience in machine learning, or practical machine learning experience in an academic or industrial lab. Hands-on experience with Python and related ML frameworks. Experience working with accelerators like GPUs and TPUs. In addition, the following would be an advantage: PhD in a Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or closely related field or equivalent practical experience. A proven track record of publications at relevant conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, ECCV, ICCV and similar). Experience working with multimodal models. Experience with JAX.
