We use natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML) to deliver experiences like Search, Chat, Local Listings, and pages for our clients. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will formulate algorithms to develop crucial new functionalities and features for Yext's products. We handle vast amounts of organized master data for some of the globe's biggest companies and gather transactional data via user-facing applications we host directly for these clients. Yext clients span a vast range of industries. We are seeking data scientists eager to uncover opportunities in data across a broad variety of business domains. Senior Data Scientists work collaboratively with partners from software engineering teams and product management teams. They participate fully in the product development lifecycle, making pragmatic decisions about the design, training, and deployment of machine learning models that drive critical product features. What You'll Do: 1. Solve data science problems end-to-end, ranging from exploration and analysis to the pragmatic implementation of high-quality solutions. 2. Communicate quantitative results effectively and in a timely manner through outstanding written and visual documentation. 3. Develop high-quality Python code for training and analysis of LLMs with tools like PyTorch and Transformers. 4. Mentor junior team members while providing technical leadership and execution guidance. 5. Exercise excellent judgement and prioritization regarding complexity, completeness, details, and risks. 6. Communicate data science and machine learning concepts to varied audiences, including product managers, software engineers, executives, and sales partners. 7. Collaborate with product management and engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle. What You Have: 1. An advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, mathematics, physics, statistics, applied mathematics, economics, or operations research. 2. Over five years of quantitative/research experience. 3. Autodidactic, self-directed abilities. Comfortable with uncertainty and rapid project evolution, learning fast in challenging environments. 4. Highly evolved communication skills – capable of writing, designing figures, and presenting structured presentations. 5. Experience in leading cross-functional agile work streams and scaling data-driven initiatives. 6. Excellent judgment about diving deep into issues, simplifying, prioritizing, and abstracting. Veteran system thinking and analytical skills. Bonus Points: 1. Enthusiasm for LLMs and up-to-date on the latest architectures. 2. Experience with GPU clusters for training and inference of LLMs. 3. Expertise in model alignment and evaluation. 4. Expertise in tools like Pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib, PyTorch, CUDA. 5. Ability to handle "glue" problems, including shell scripting, Python environment problem debugging, workflow automation. Experience with AWS, Linux and Mac environments. 6. Knowledge of databases like Snowflake and MySQL, or similar systems. 7. Understanding of statistics and good experimental practices. 8.
