What this role entails:

In this role, you will work closely with both the machine learning research team and the data operations team to develop tools for generating and annotating data. You will help define the data needs for projects and source this data from public or internal sources.

What this role is not:

This is not a job for a simple programmer who is handed detailed specifications and made to write code that is dictated by others. You will not have all the technical decisions made for you. We need authentic software engineers – individuals who care about getting it right the first time.

This is not a research role within a machine learning team, but a role that supports current researchers and DataOps (annotation) teams in tasks that require automation development.

What you will bring to the table:

You should be a lifelong learner who collaborates well within a team. You should be a robust problem solver who can debug complex customer situations one day and construct new scalable code the next. You should be detail-oriented, intelligent, and productive.

A brief overview of your daily tasks:

• Help broaden existing services and datasets to include new languages.

• Add data to current machine learning model training scripts and services.

• Construct and use tools that can automatically annotate data, using external or internal machine learning models.

• Develop tools to crawl the internet for specific data needs.

• Use LLMs to create synthetic data.

• Improve and clean up existing datasets using automated tools.

• Create tools for continuous and automatic quality checks of data.

Minimum Requirements:

• BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or substantial relevant experience)

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, mostly involved in some form of backend coding.

• Experience with Linux operating systems.

• Experience with REST APIs.

• Experience in Python and Bash scripting.

• UI experience (Vue/React) is a plus.
