Position Summary: We are seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic Head of Computational Biology who is driven to contribute to the development of our company and products. The ideal candidate will be greatly cooperative, self-driven, capable of building and developing a team, and will report directly to the Chief Science Officer. Responsibilities: - Develop the data science team as a player-coach. - Establish best practices for the team’s development of new company functions for internal tools. - Identify key areas for the implementation of automation and increase the platform’s throughput. - Oversee the team’s resources in the context of our pipeline, ensuring timely and accurate data return across our development projects. - Be a pivotal member of the R&D leadership team, collaborating with the CSO to define the company's scientific direction. - Handle software development throughout the company. - Uphold and promote functional excellence in areas like software development, database architecture, AI/ML and more. Qualifications: - PhD or equivalent experience in computer science, data science, bioinformatics - 5-8+ years of industry experience - Extensive experience in high-throughput molecular biology, including automation platforms and data integration across different functions - Experience in developing systems to integrate R&D, track units through the pipeline, and learn from the pipeline’s overall experiences - Experience with AWS and implementing scalable analysis frameworks and AI/ML models - Proficiency with data science languages, such as Python and R, and familiarity with different database systems like SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB - Expertise in good practices for reproducible research, such as Git and Jupyter - Proven success in managing and developing people - Direct experience with growing teams and developing platform strategy - Demonstrated success in deriving knowledge from raw data at scale.
