Job Description

As a Data Scientist, you’ll work in close collaboration with our Data Engineers, BI Engineers, Business Analysts, and Software Engineers, among others in various application teams, right from specifying to implementing, to enhance our applications and business line decisions. Beyond this, you'll help promote a data-centric mindset and a data-driven company. 

Team : 

  • Join our Data Team (ETL, Data Management, BI), cooperating closely with Paris team members, to create a unique team, and assist Porto in enhancing its practice in this field. 
  • Provide distinctive expertise to our clients and stakeholders responsibly and with integrity. 
  • Be adaptable, resilient and accountable per the circumstances. 
  • Aim to succeed collectively as a unified team across Porto and Paris, promoting openness, trust, and collaboration to advance knowledge, practice, and our ecosystem. 
  • Contribute to local initiatives and projects at all stages, from evaluation, use case identification, data preparation, to implementation, and industrialization. 
  • Participate in the data community. 
  • Lead data awareness training and mentoring. 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their strategic and operational needs and guide them towards success; 
  • Contribute to fostering a culture of data-driven solutions within business lines; 
  • Conduct comprehensive end-to-end research, developing new models, algorithms with a scientific mindset and a determined focus on delivery; 
  • Create large-scale data collection pipelines for data collection, data cleaning, and data analysis based on your considerable knowledge and experience; 
  • Work collaborative with a multidisciplinary team, spanning across business analysts, data science, engineering, data visualization, and application developers; 
  • Clearly present data insights, findings, and results to both internal and external stakeholders and provide business recommendations; 
  • Help spread data competence by consistently learning and sharing your knowledge through company-wide sharing and mentoring sessions, technical talks; 
  • Act as a Data evangelist; 
  • Take personal responsibility for your work and continuously strive to raise the bar. 

Qualifications

Main Technical Requirements: 

  • A professional with at least 3 years of experience in a Data Science-related role; 
  • A BS/MS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics, or a related field; 
  • Experience with Machine Learning algorithms (i.e., Neural Networks, SVM, Markov Models, Decision Trees, etc); 
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP); 
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or C++; 
  • Experience with machine learning platforms and ecosystems (Jupyter, TensorFlow, Hadoop, Spark); 
  • Experience with the end-to-end Data Science loop: from the data collections stage to the model evaluation analysis; 
  • Experience with large datasets/databases; 
  • Experience with SQL; 
  • Experience with data processing platforms, frameworks, and tools such as Spark, Hive, Hadoop. 

Other Requirements: 

  • A good command of English - minimum B2 level (mandatory); 
  • French language skills are an advantage; 
  • Potential for rapid self-reliance and proactivity; 
  • Strong communication skills; 
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools (Scrum/Kanban); 
  • A boundless curiosity and passion for learning, improving things, and helping others, and possessing an ability to translate ideas into realities; 
  • Willingness to travel abroad for brief periods, as required.
