The Position
This is an exciting time to join Remote as a Senior Analytics Engineer I, part of our Data Engineering team which also constitutes Analytics Engineers and Data Engineers. With the Data Analytics team, we support decision-making and reporting by translating data into actionable insights for non-data professionals at Remote. We primarily use SQL, dbt, Python, Meltano, Airflow, Redshift, Metabase, and Retool.
This role falls under the Senior Engineer I category on the Remote Career paths.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in analytics engineering; experience in a high-growth tech company is a plus.
- Strong experience with data transformation frameworks (e.g., dbt) and data warehouses (e.g., Redshift), strong proficiency in SQL.
- Strong knowledge in data modeling techniques (Kimball, Data Vault, etc.).
- Solid Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Metabase).
- Strong affinity towards well-crafted software - testing, knowledge of best practices, experience with CI/CD (e.g., Gitlab, Github, Jenkins).
- Ability to thrive in an unstructured and fast-paced environment.
- Proven collaboration and communication skills.
- Experienced in handling ambiguity, collaborating with stakeholders to transform abstract concepts into data models that answer a range of questions.
- Proficient in English.
- Experience working remotely is not required but considered a plus.
Key Responsibilities
DBT Modelling:
- Design, develop, and maintain dbt models for data transformation and analysis, facilitating clean and reliable data for end users, helping them get accurate and consistent responses through self-serving BI tools.
- Work with Data Analysts and Business Stakeholders to comprehend their reporting and analysis needs and translate them into DBT models.
- Maintain our internal dbt conventions and best practices, ensuring a clean and efficient codebase.
Data Analytics & Monitoring:
- Assure data quality and consistency by implementing data testing, validation, and cleansing techniques.
- Implement monitoring solutions to monitor the health and performance of our warehouse's data.
- Train business users on data visualization tools usage.
Drive our Culture of Documentation:
- Create and maintain data documentation & definitions, including data dictionaries and process flows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
- Share knowledge and provide guidance to peers, fostering a culture of collective growth.
