What's the role?
We're hiring an Applied Machine Learning Scientist for the Marketplace Optimization team to assist in understanding buyer shopping endeavors, customer's long term values, seller success, marketplace health, and customer interest changes during online shopping. In your role as an Applied Scientist, you'll work intimately with software engineers to create custom large-scale machine-learning models that are operational in production to deliver customer impact. Our team is motivated by data and excited about innovating in the field of Machine Learning (ML). Our areas of interest and expertise include Ranking, Optimization, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, and Reinforcement Learning. Our primary goal is to apply these sophisticated techniques to enhance the search experience on our platform.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Engineering Manager of Marketplace Optimization, and the base range is $184,000 - 216,000 USD annually. Besides salary, you'll also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. This role requires you to be present at Etsy's Brooklyn office in a flex capacity or in-person. Candidates living within a commutable distance of the Brooklyn Hub will be considered first. What’s this team like at Etsy?
The Marketplace Optimization team is part of Etsy's Search group, dedicated to refining search ranking quality for buyers and sellers. We work on the final pass ranking of search results, significantly shaping the overall customer search experience. The team includes machine learning engineers, applied scientists, and a product manager. Working intensively with software engineers and different product and enablement teams across the organization, we participate in the creation and execution of sophisticated machine learning algorithms that continually facilitate improved search results.
