AWS Envision Engineering is looking for an Applied Scientist to devise, promote, and actualize state-of-the-art solutions for unprecedented problems for our World Wide Public Sector customers. As an applied scientist, you possess expertise in creating and developing complex ML models to address a range of challenges and opportunities. You will work with terabytes of text, images, and other forms of data to resolve real-world problems. You will design and run tests, research new algorithms, and discover novel methods of optimizing risk, profitability, and customer experience. You will collaborate with technology and product leaders to tackle business and technological issues using scientific methods to build new services that surprise and delight our customers. Key job responsibilities We’re seeking brilliant scientists capable of creating and employing ML algorithms and cutting-edge deep learning (DL) and reinforcement learning approaches to critical areas for our World Wide Public Sector customers such as drug research, fraud prevention, predictive maintenance, pricing optimization, call center analytics, and virtual assistants among others. As an Applied Scientist, you will be expected to: - Design, build, and evaluate revolutionary ML models to solve diverse challenges and opportunities across sectors. - Interact directly with customers to understand their business problems and assist them in defining and implementing scalable Generative AI solutions that address them. - Collaborate closely with account teams, research scientist teams, and product engineering teams to propel model implementations and new solutions. About the team We are a team formed of problem-solvers and creators who take on our clients' challenges that don’t have standardized solutions. We typically don’t have the answers right away and are expected to dive deep to figure out the optimum approach. The code we write immediately provides value for clients by showing how technology can resolve their issues. We are open to hiring applicants to work from one of the following locations: Herndon, VA, USA Basic Qualifications - PhD, or Master's degree and 3+ years of CS, CE, ML or equivalent field experience - Experience in creating machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application - Experience in patents or publications at first-class peer-reviewed conferences or journals - Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language - Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing Preferred Qualifications - Experience using Unix/Linux - Experience in professional software development Amazon is dedicated to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
