Responsibilities:
You will be at the forefront of:
- Leading the development and implementation of machine learning algorithms and models for analyzing large datasets, uncovering meaningful insights for trait development.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate machine learning capabilities into our trait discovery workflows and pipelines.
- Solving complex problems by gathering inputs from multidisciplinary stakeholders and making informed decisions in scenarios with multiple viable solutions.
- Staying current with the latest advancements in machine learning and bioinformatics tools, databases, and software packages, and making recommendations for improving our processes.
- Communicating research questions, methodologies, and results effectively to both expert and non-expert stakeholders.
- Providing bioinformatics expertise and offering coaching and mentoring to colleagues when appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
We’re looking for candidates with:
- A PhD (or Masters) in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- Proficiency in programming languages, with strong expertise in Python and/or R.
- In-depth theoretical knowledge of the latest machine learning methods and applications.
- Strong familiarity with bioinformatics tools, databases, and software packages.
- Expertise in statistical and machine learning packages in Python and/or R (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Caret).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Outstanding communication skills for conveying research questions and results effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
It would be great if you have:
- 3+ years of experience in academia or industry using applied statistics and machine learning tools for multiomic dataset analysis.
- Demonstrable contributions to the field through publications or GitHub projects, and a proven track record of technical leadership on R&D projects.
- Knowledge of graph machine learning methods, including graph neural networks.
- Understanding of linear algebra and calculus for data science and machine learning.
- Experience working in an early-stage start-up.
- Experience working in plant science.
