About the Role: Data Analyst, Compensation

We are excited to announce the opportunity to join OpenAI as the inaugural Data Analyst in Compensation. This vital role will closely collaborate with the Head of Compensation to architect, evaluate, and refine our salary and equity structures. Your contributions will be key in shaping compensation frameworks that attract and retain premier global talent, aiding OpenAI's mission.

Location & Work Model

This position is based in San Francisco, CA, and follows a hybrid work arrangement with three days on-site weekly. Relocation assistance is available for successful candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the analysis and visualization of compensation data both internally and externally, identifying trends to guide strategic compensation decisions.
  • Develop and implement data models to evaluate current compensation strategies and predict future trends, utilizing various data sources to provide timely and accurate results.
  • Enhance compensation tools in collaboration with the People Systems team to ensure data accuracy and efficiency, scaling these tools to align with organizational growth.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to resolve compensation issues, showcasing strong collaboration and execution skills.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed compensation reports to senior management and other stakeholders, maintaining close collaboration with HR, Finance, Recruiting, and Legal teams.

Candidate Profile:

Successful candidates will generally have at least two years of experience in finance, consulting, people analytics, or a similar field, demonstrating:

  • Advanced skills in data analysis and visualization, with proficiency in tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and preferably SQL, Python, or Tableau.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset thriving in a fast-paced work environment.
