Data Analyst Are you an expert in reporting performance using data and data analytics? Are you creatively minded yet driven by data and insights? About our Team The Data team plays a crucial role in achieving the goals of Elsevier. Their objective is to deliver high-quality insights and analytics, drive data-based decisions in the business, ranging from hypothesis testing to modeling/prediction, marketing analytics to corporate reporting. About the Role Within DataOps, this Data Analyst role will closely partner with the Person Domain – a unit that employs machine learning to cluster and enrich data about millions of academic researchers. You might be asked to delve into large datasets to answer questions from customers or internal stakeholders regarding data quality; you might need to perform trend analysis on data errors, incidents, and complaints and provide clear reports on this; you might need to arrange for gold data sets to be commissioned and produced, and test product data against this. You will need to have a sharp eye for detail, solid analytical skills, technical expertise in at least one data analysis system, and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders. Most importantly, you will need curiosity and a certain interest in the world of scientific research and the products that Elsevier creates to serve it. Responsibilities Stake Holder Management Build and maintain strong relationships with Product Managers and Data Scientists. Align activities with Product Managers and Data Scientists. Present achievements and project status updates, both in writing and verbally, to various stakeholders. Represent DataOps in various meetings as a content Subject Matter Expert/content consultant. Make sure you are the go-to person for Product. Have in-depth knowledge of the research landscape, Product requirements, and Product vision. Use squad model principles to ensure alignment with Product. Data Expertise Understand the role of data quality, how to measure it, and how to improve it Initiate data improvement projects, to improve data quality and/or reduce costs, and lead these until successful completion. Have in-depth knowledge of data requirements and data models. Act as data quality SME in a variety of projects and initiatives. Assess data quality improvement requests. Ensure alignment is reached throughout all steps in the workflow for improvement activities. Review and gain approval for content improvements and/or change requests to safeguard existing content strategy and/or support new business. Analyze data to measure current status and identify improvement opportunities. Initiate review of existing processes, identify improvement opportunities, and lead improvement projects. Identify smart ways, using new tools and technologies, to improve quality. Develop the setup of new KPIs and align with Product Managers and Product Owners. Provide SME content advice to various internal colleagues and external parties. Develop solutions to existing and newly identified data errors.
