Job Description

This role will be part of the Upstream and Carbon Management (UCM) Data group, collaborating closely with our Research, Data, and Product functions. The UCM Data team builds, enhances, and sustains the data that consolidates Wood Mackenzie's unique comprehension of the energy and natural resources sectors. Data is the main catalyst behind Wood Mackenzie’s mission to reshape how we power the world. The chosen candidate will work on challenges related to data management, pipelines, analysis, and data quality

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough comprehension of the data landscape, domain, and workflows for your designated business area, clients, and products
  • Provide specialist abilities in data analysis, visualisation, and data management, providing new Analytics through interconnected datasets and integrated pipelines
  • Advocate for quality, assume responsibility for the ownership or fulfillment of complex data requests on time and at high standards
  • Identify, prioritise, and document opportunities for efficiency, optimisation, migration or advancement in our systems, processes, and datasets
  • Work in an agile, cooperative manner to cultivate an environment of continuous enhancement and incremental delivery, gauging success
  • Be a primary user of Data/GIS platform and ensure that best practices are applied for utilising or maintaining databases, tools, models, and processes solutions from data sourcing to client delivery
  • Cooperate with colleagues in Research, Data, Product and Engineering to provide Data Assets while assisting junior colleagues
  • Experience in data related roles, demonstrating customer focus and awareness of core concepts around ingestion, cleansing, and data quality
  • Strong skills in Relational and NoSQL Database systems, with the ability to query and analyse data using SQL or other techniques
  • Superior skills in a data visualisation package (such as PowerBI)
  • Experience in areas identifying and implementing technology solutions to resolve business problems using agile methodologies
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the mentoring of junior colleagues and managing others’ workloads
  • A fervent interest and passion for learning new technologies or data skills like Python, understanding of AWS and APIs is an advantage to enforce quality control measures on our dataset to ensure data consistency and integrity #LI-NT1

Qualifications

About You

  • Experience in data related roles, indicating a customer focus and understanding of core concepts around data ingestion, cleansing, and quality
  • Strong skills in Relational and NoSQL Database systems, with the capability to query and analyse data through SQL or other techniques
  • Expertise in a data visualisation package (like PowerBI)
  • Worked in areas identifying and applying technology solutions to solve business issues using agile methodologies
  • Outstanding communication skills, including coaching more junior colleagues and managing others' workloads
  • A passionate interest in learning new technologies or data skills like Python; understanding of AWS and APIs is an advantage
