Role Purpose and Overview

This is a chance to become part of the Operational Analytics team within the broader Insight & Analytics (I&A) team, aimed at providing automated data across Editorial, Newsletters and Marketing. This role's main objective is to construct and design reporting and other automated tools that will facilitate the comprehension of content and email performance across the company, enabling data-led decisions to be made.

This is a role that requires both technical and stakeholder focus, where strong coding and communication skills will be essential for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construct dynamic performance reporting that allows stakeholders to independently access data on editorial content, emails and reader behavior.
  • Design and develop alternative automated solutions to provide data to stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to become their trusted data partners, concentrating on requirements gathering and ensuring understanding of data tools
  • Collaborate with Technology teams to guarantee high-quality data sources are available for creating reports and automated tools
  • Ensure that data solutions have clear documentation, facilitating consistent use across the organization
  • Work with other teams in the I&A department to allow them to utilize created data resources to aid their analysis projects

Essential Skills Required for the Role

  • Confident SQL skills that will be needed daily to meet The Telegraph's data capabilities ambitions.
  • Experience with web analytics tools like Adobe Analytics and/or Google Analytics
  • Experience in building dashboards and visualizations in BI tools (e.g., Looker Studio, Tableau or similar)
  • Creative thinking for developing and presenting data in new ways.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, extending beyond the client/supplier relationship to business partner, assisting in setting successful growth strategies and actively identifying new opportunities.
  • An adeptness to communicate and present complex data simply and clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • A positive and productive disposition that finds solutions to problems proactively, ensuring both efficiency and quality of delivery.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships to attain a goal
  • Ability to communicate clearly with various different types of stakeholders across the business

Additional Skills Useful for the Role

  • Knowledge of, and experience using, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience with using Python/R for data manipulation / visualizing data
