Job Description

Our Data Engineering consultants at CapTech empower clients to construct and preserve advanced data systems, unifying data from diverse sources to empower decision-makers. We construct pipelines and prepare data for use by data scientists, data analysts, and other data systems. We relish problem-solving and providing imaginative solutions for our clients. Our Cloud Data Engineers utilize the client’s cloud infrastructure to deliver value, with scalability for future expansion. Specific responsibilities for the Data Engineer – Cloud position include:

  • Developing data pipelines and other data products using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Advising clients on specific technologies and methodologies for leveraging cloud resources to ingest and process data efficiently
  • Applying your skills in engineering best practices to solve complex data issues
  • Collaborating with end users, development staff, and business analysts to ensure prospective data architecture plans maximize the value of client data throughout the organization.
  • Articulating architectural differences between solution strategies and the pros/cons of each

Qualifications

Successful candidates typically have:

  • Experience in delivering solutions on a major cloud platform
  • Ability to think strategically and associate architectural decisions/recommendations with business needs and client culture
  • Experience in the design and implementation of data architecture solutions
  • A broad scale of production database experience, normally including substantial SQL proficiency, database administration, and data pipeline scripting
  • Ability to evaluate and utilize conventional and contemporary architectural components based on business needs.
  • A demonstrable ability to deliver production data pipelines and other data products. This can be through hands-on experience, a degree, certification, bootcamp, or other learning.

Skills:

Successful candidates usually have proven experience with technologies in some of the following categories:

  • Languages: SQL, Python, Java, R, C# / C++ / C
  • Database: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Redshift, Aurora, Presto, BigQuery, Oracle
  • DevOps: git, docker, subversion, Kubernetes, Jenkins
  • Additional Technologies: Spark, Databricks, Kafka, Kinesis, Hadoop, Lambda, EMR
  • Popular Certifications: AWS Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals, Google Associate Cloud Engineer

The base pay range for this role is $75,000 - $160,000.
