Job Overview

The Department of Population Health at Dell Medical School, The University of Texas at Austin, is excited to offer the position of Data Research Engineering/Scientist Associate II within the PRIDE Health Lab. This role focuses on research funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health, specifically addressing early life adversity in sexual and gender minority adult populations. This vital role not only emphasizes data collection and analysis but also extends to community engagement and dissemination of research findings.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct qualitative data collection such as in-depth interviews and focus groups.
  • Lead qualitative data analysis and assist with quantitative data analysis.
  • Aid in the recruitment of study participants and support community engagement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of data collection tools and support grant writing activities.
  • Participate in the dissemination of research findings.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field, coupled with at least 2 years of relevant experience in qualitative data collection and analysis. Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master’s degree and additional experience in fields such as sexual and gender minority health research, mental health research, or community-based research are preferable. Familiarity with qualitative data analysis software and project management experience will be advantageous.

Salary and Benefits

The starting salary is $45,000, potentially higher based on qualifications. Benefits include eligibility for a comprehensive benefits package and participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS).
