THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Data Science & Analytics team is a new, cross-functional group within the ActBlue Technical Services (ATS) Data Department. The Data Science & Analytics Manager who will report to the Director of Engineering, Data, will mainly be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting the analytics and data science solutions that aid better decision-making at ActBlue. They will also work with leaders to structure reports, manage Data team members, and collaborate with other departments to ensure data standards are up-to-date and accurate.
This role will also serve as a leader within the Data Department and manage the Data Science & Analytics subteam. They will work with the Data Engineering and Data Infrastructure managers to equip teams with the necessary information to monitor and reach their goals. They will develop processes and services that promote user self-sufficiency, so they have the data they need to make informed decisions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As a leader in the Data Department, you will offer strategic thought partnership to the Director in refining departmental strategies and objectives. You will manage and supervise the work of the Data Science & Analytics sub-team. You will collect and prioritize needs from stakeholders, manage the delivery of knowledge products efficiently and with a high quality standard, and maintain knowledge products in production, ensuring they continue to fulfill user needs. You will lead and coach ongoing process enhancements in the Data Science & Analytics team. You will mentor and support team members in achieving their career goals.
You're expected to advance knowledge products through the analytics lifecycle from description to prescription, promote a psychologically safe environment within the team and across ActBlue, coordinate with ActBlue leadership to establish measurable objectives and consistent metrics, and work with ActBlue's leadership to highlight data insights and trends about prospective and current ActBlue users and tool usage. You'll work closely with other departments across the entire organization to collaboratively achieve ActBlue's internal and external goals, identify knowledge gaps and strategize ways to fulfill data needs that will further institutional knowledge and information sharing, and provide direction in project management and delegate large, complex projects as needed.
WHAT YOU BRING:
You should have at least five years of analytics and/or data science experience, a minimum of three years of staff management experience is preferred, and experience in collaborating and building relationships with teams across an organization. You should also have experience in executing large-scale project management and creating robust work plans, proficiency in SQL, Business Intelligence tools and/or Data Science tools, experience with data pipelines and data hygiene standards, familiarity with either R or Python, with a focus on data visualization and automation being a plus, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience, experience working on an interdisciplinary team that encourages skill-sharing and professional development, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in working with teammates and partners.
LOCATION AND COMPENSATION:
This is a full-time salaried position that can either be completely remote or based out of ActBlue's office located in Davis Square in Somerville, MA, a few blocks away from the MBTA Red Line. Travel may be required on a limited basis to attend all-staff and departmental retreats (1-2 times per year). Additional travel might be required for select positions. ATS currently supports remote work employees in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin. The salary range is $173,676 - $192,209 and offers will take into account factors such as candidate experience, interview performance, and team salary parity.
