Financial Crime Threat Management (FCTM) is dedicated to safeguarding our business and communities from financial crime threats. We leverage customer data and intelligence to identify, investigate, and escalate potentially suspicious activities such as money laundering, terrorism financing, and transactions involving sanctioned parties. FCTM specialists collaborate within the Financial Crime Portfolio to ensure compliance with financial crime regulatory requirements across the group.

Data Scientist, Financial Crime Threat Management

The role of Data Scientist, FCTM, is crucial for realizing our mission. Key responsibilities include:

  • Building, training, and deploying machine learning models to identify and disrupt suspicious activities, including money laundering and terrorism financing.
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining automated data products for AML Transaction monitoring. This includes automating data ingestion, transformation, and validation processes while ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Creating suitable data models to transform data into useful structures for AML/CTF Transaction monitoring, including the development of information-rich features for ML model inputs.
  • Implementing robust data and model governance practices, including continuous model monitoring, data lineage, and data quality checks. Supporting the prioritization and resolution of identified issues.
  • Quickly planning and executing strategies for accessing required data and deploying automated pipelines on our cloud platform.
  • Collaborating closely with Product Owners, Technology Leads, Architects, Data Governance, and Management to ensure solutions meet platform design and architecture principles.
  • Maintaining technical documentation for data pipelines, covering architecture, data lineage, and transformation rules.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in data engineering or data science roles, with a focus on delivering automation at scale.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with the ability to write clean, modular, and reusable code.
  • Strong knowledge of database, data mesh, data warehousing/lake concepts, and data modeling techniques.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (GCP, AWS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience in cloud data migration projects.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and frameworks, including data pre-processing and feature engineering.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
