STEMBoard is hiring a data scientist proficient in programming to integrate intricate models and utilize advanced software library frameworks for managing large, clustered data sets. The data scientist will work with a team in collecting and arranging data that is crucial for analytics. Proficiency in machine learning is also desirable for constructing precise and efficient data pipelines to meet the requirements of downstream users, including data scientists involved in creating models and analytics that deliver insights.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Data scientists demonstrate expertise similar to both data analysts and data engineers. They are responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining a data pipeline. Data scientists are also tasked with interpreting and analyzing complex data sets and strategizing, executing, and managing ML projects using cloud-native platforms and advanced ML solutions. They are familiar with demanding processes, technologies and utilize a wide spectrum of methodologies in the field, including data mining, natural language programming, and machine learning.

A data scientist is required to possess an amalgamation of skills including programming, mathematical modeling, statistics, and domain knowledge. They blend an advanced background in math and statistics with programming and domain knowledge, as well as communication skills to analyze data, apply mathematical models, and present results useful for the organization. They must be capable of managing and manipulating large structured and unstructured data sets, requiring proficiency in distributed SQL programming, relational and non-relational data queries, general programming languages (like Python and R), and machine learning techniques.

  • Apply and develop scientific methodology, statistics, and algorithms to identify and frame germane problems, hypotheses, and opportunities.
  • Create predictive and prescriptive modeling, natural language processing (NLP), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), text mining and processing, clustering, forecasting methods, and advanced statistical techniques.
  • Design and automate processes to navigate and analyze data. Handle and integrate data across different data sets. Analyze large-scale structured and unstructured data.
  • Employ frameworks like Spark and Hadoop for large-scale data processing. Perform statistical modeling and generate data visualizations using products such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI and R Shiny.
  • Research, develop, and implement algorithms to solve intricate problems. Program using R, Python (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas) or similar analytical languages.
  • Execute data engineering, data processing and modeling techniques using cloud-based data management, data science, and ML platforms like Databricks, IBM Cloud Pak, Cloudera, and Snowflake.
  • Communicate complex concepts and hypotheses to a non-technical audience through digital storytelling.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 1+ years in software engineering, data science or related field.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in any STEM field, preferably in Data Science, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
  • Tools: Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, C++, Python, R, etc.).
  • Security Clearance: Minimum of a TOP SECRET level clearance or above.
  • Proficiency in Agile Development and Git Operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in executing data science methods to real-world data issues.

Benefits

  • Healthcare, Vision, and Dental Insurance
  • 20 Days of Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 401K Matching
  • Training/Certification Reimbursement
  • Short and Long term disability
  • Parental/Maternity Leave
