OilX is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Data Scientist to join our Data Science Team located in our Athens Office. However, since we are a remote-first team, we welcome applicants from all over the European time zones.

About the Team

As a Data Scientist, you will be an integral part of OilX's Data Science team. The team's focus is on utilizing data science tools and algorithms to handle the collation, analysis, and modeling of OilX's crucial backend data. The team primarily targets time series forecasting, trade flows identification, earth observation algorithms, and optimization algorithms. Our workflow is organized using Dual-track Agile (Scrum) methods and greatly leans on coordination and teamwork. Our day-to-day tasks are diverse.

We are eager to welcome individuals who are self-motivated, keen to learn new skills and enjoy working on various tasks.

Most of your time will be spent working with data and developing code, and applying your technical and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Head of Data Science and the Project Manager of your respective project.
  • Developing and implementing end-to-end time-series forecasting methods.
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive framework to facilitate the deployment of time series forecasting models to production.
  • Occasionally handling data retrieval from web sources.
  • Performing data analysis tasks along with the creation of clear and concise reports on the findings.
  • Creating dashboards for data analysis and visualization.
  • Engaging in the development and debugging of production level code in Python.
  • Quickly gaining a deep understanding of a complex, large scale solution and the underlying business it serves through hands-on data work.

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge in TS analysis and ML modeling with Python.
  • Proficient in Python modules: Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-Learn, Statsmodels, Matplotlib, and Plotly.
  • Experience in using relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL using SQLAlchemy.
  • Problem-solving attitude and attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies.
  • Experience in using Git.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in building dashboards for data visualization, preferably using Plotly and Dash.
  • Experience in Neural Networks modules such as , Keras, Tensorflow, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
