Position Summary

The Provider Selection Methodology team collaborates closely with the Network, Clinical, and Product teams to develop essential algorithms that evaluate healthcare providers' performance using Quality and Cost Effectiveness measures. As a data scientist on this team, you'll participate in the development, validation, and delivery of algorithms, statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and reporting tools.

What You Will Do

On a daily basis, a data scientist on the Provider Selection team will:

  • Develop, validate, and execute algorithms and predictive models to investigate healthcare data problems, detect patterns, and recommend solutions.
  • Explore, examine, and interpret large volumes of structured and unstructured data in various forms.
  • Implement advanced statistical techniques to analyze data and solve moderately complex business problems.
  • Develop data pipelines to collect, organize, and standardize data that helps generate insights and address business reporting needs.
  • Use data visualization techniques to effectively communicate analytical results and support business decisions.
  • Assess and evaluate data requirements for assigned projects, ensuring data integrity.
  • Explore existing data and recommend additional data sources for improvements.
  • Document projects, including business objectives, analytical-based decisions, and detailed sets of results.

This role requires extensive experience with SQL, Python, Spark, command line tools, and cloud computing platforms such as AWS, GCP, and MS Azure. A demonstrated interest and working knowledge in the healthcare domain data are essential.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of work experience OR a Graduate degree
  • Proficient with Python and SQL

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years working with GCP
  • Ability to translate business needs into analytical solutions and explain results to non-technical end users.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline. A Master's degree is preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is: $82,915.00 - $175,100.00. This range represents the base hourly rate or annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on various factors, including experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
