Job Description

We are looking for candidates located in PST and/or MST Time Zones.

The Fraud unauthorized risk team at Afterpay primarily manages Account Takeover and Stolen Financial risk.

As a Fraud Decision Scientist at Afterpay, you'll be responsible for key KPIs related to the company's loss metrics while maintaining a balance with the customer experience. Your tasks include setting goals, developing strategy, and close collaboration with product managers, engineers and business stakeholders. You’ll be responsible for detecting changes in fraud trends, writing rules to summarize patterns, and closely monitoring the performance of solutions.

Your responsibilities:

  • Maintain and refine the fraud strategy framework, including fraud model strategies and flash fraud surgical rules.
  • Develop and refine fraud model strategy automation process to ensure the strategies are current and high-performing.
  • Review cases daily to promptly capture flash fraud trends and quickly respond to stop loss leakage.
  • Respond swiftly to system issues and conduct thorough root cause analysis.
  • Manage large volumes of data; extract and manipulate large datasets using tools like SQL and Python.

Qualifications

You should possess:

  • At least 3 years experience in quantitative statistics, mathematics, business, or relevant fields.
  • Experience in fraud risk solutions is highly desirable.
  • Experience in data mining and analysis tools such as Python/ SQL, etc.
  • Sound understanding of fraud patterns, including ATO or stolen CC.
  • Excellent time management skills, along with the ability to multitask and prioritize evolving responsibilities of the role.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to understand and synthesize requirements across multiple project domains.
  • An understanding of how the software you build impacts the experience delivered to customers.

Block adopts a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are grouped into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographical area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be adjusted in the future.

Zone C: USD $150,600 - USD $184,000
Zone D: USD $142,200 - USD $173,800
