Join Bosch as a Research Engineer for Real-Time Data-Driven Control of Intelligent Systems (w/m/div.)

At Bosch, we are shaping the future with high-quality technologies and services that inspire and improve people's lives. Our commitment to our team members is unshakeable: we grow together, enjoy our work, and inspire each other. Welcome to Bosch.

The Robert Bosch GmbH is excited to receive your application!

Position Description

Future Bosch products are connected and learn during operation. Especially in dynamic systems that interact with each other, new challenges arise for the development and validation of such functionalities throughout the entire product lifecycle. By combining machine learning with control technology and computer science, we develop new approaches to overcome these challenges.

In this role, you will address technical challenges through analysis, modeling, and simulation of dynamic systems (e.g., manipulators, mobile robots, automated driving, construction machinery) and develop data-driven approaches to solve complex reinforcement learning, control, and optimization tasks.

Your responsibilities will include the application of advanced robust nonlinear control methods for the control and optimization of mechatronic/robotic systems, including their implementation (including state estimators) at sampling rates up to 1kHz. Furthermore, you will complement control systems with machine learning methods, safety mechanisms, and hierarchical trajectory planning.

You will be in close contact with customers, considering product-specific requirements, and developing target group-oriented solutions as well as minimum viable software products.

Qualifications

Education: Outstanding doctoral degree in AI, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Cybernetics

Experience and Knowledge: Deep knowledge of reinforcement learning and advanced control technology, experience with machine learning based on physical and data-driven models, proficient use of modern software tools, and knowledge of high-performance programming languages such as modern C++, Rust, Python, or similar.

Personality and Work Style: You are proactive and approach your tasks methodically and structured; you maintain quality in focus and work solution-oriented; you are aware of your responsibilities.

Enthusiasm: Passion for technical challenges, enjoyment in developing solutions in interdisciplinary, heterogeneous teams, and their implementation up to the proof of concept, interest in numerical optimization and machine learning.
