Join AstraZeneca as a Knowledge & Semantic Data Engineer!

We are seeking an experienced Knowledge & Semantic Data Engineer to join our Data, Analytics & AI group for Operations IT. This team supports diverse business areas such as Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Procurement with data-driven solutions and insights.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy

Provide strategy & vision for Knowledge Graph and Semantic Engineering:

• Partner with the AI team to strategize a Gen AI chatbot to query Operations data products via a knowledge graph.
• Guide the development, execution, and implementation of a roadmap for these strategies.
• Manage change management activities.

2. Knowledge Graph Platform

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced knowledge-based systems and solutions supporting digital initiatives using graph databases and data engineering expertise.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and define data-driven strategies.
• Develop and implement advanced data engineering pipelines, ensuring optimal performance and scalability of data infrastructure.
• Apply computer science and data analytics techniques to derive valuable insights from large datasets.
• Utilize Graph DB and Graph query languages to maintain existing data models and databases.
• Continuously improve knowledge engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.

3. Semantic Engineering

• Maintain, evolve, and expand our knowledge models (ontologies).
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define and document data models using ontological principles.
• Conduct ontology mapping and integration for data interoperability.
• Provide training on ontology usage and best practices for data organization.
• Stay updated on industry trends in ontology development.

4. Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate with partners across departments to meet business needs.
• Act as a liaison between IT and Business Units.
• Oversee partnerships with third parties and academic or outsourced partners to drive project outcomes.
• Deliver business education and improve awareness of Knowledge Graph capabilities.

5. Quality Assurance

• Implement robust quality assurance processes to ensure data accuracy and security.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators for Knowledge Graph services.

Qualifications

• Knowledge Graph and Semantic Analysis: Expertise in explaining, designing, and creating powerful knowledge graph models.
• Knowledge Representation and Semantic Technologies: Proficiency in OWL, RDF, SWRL, SPARQL, JSON-LD, semantic modeling, etc.
• Use Case Awareness: Awareness of various use cases for these technologies.
• Experience with Graph/Triple Stores: Experience with technologies like PoolParty, Stardog, TigerGraph, etc.
• Data and Information Architecture: Understanding of data architecture including UML, ER, IDEF.
• Communication Skills: Effective and passionate advocate for Graph and Semantic Technologies.
• Thinking Skills: Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Focus on Gen AI: Experience in designing and deploying knowledge graph solutions and developing LLM models on top of knowledge graphs.
• Graph Query Languages: Expertise in Cypher, Gremlin, or other major GQLs.
• Other Databases: Working knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL technologies.
